Chubb invests in life science team in the UK and Ireland; adds new position serving North England and Scotland

Chubb today announced that it is expanding its life science team in the UK and Ireland, as it continues to build its specialty casualty insurance capabilities for middle-market and multinational businesses across the region.

Stephen Barr, currently Casualty Underwriter for Chubb in Scotland, has been promoted to the role of Northern England and Scotland Senior Life Science Underwriter. He will be responsible for driving the development of Chubb’s life science portfolio across Chubb’s North of England and Scotland business region. Stephen has over ten years of insurance industry experience, having held a series of underwriting positions with the company, and previously with AIG. In his new role, Stephen will be based in Glasgow, reporting to Andy Macfarlane, Regional Manager for Chubb in Scotland and to Scott McFarlane, Life Science Manager for Chubb in the UK and Ireland. His appointment is effective immediately.

Headed by Scott McFarlane, Chubb’s 15-strong life science team is one of the largest in the UK. The company’s National Underwriting Centre has an underwriting team with a combined 35 years of experience specialising in the industry, complementing Chubb’s market-facing regional team as follows:
