ACE Announces Leadership Changes in Continental Europe Technical Lines Team

PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE Group today announced two appointments within its Continental Europe region as it steps up investment in its information technology insurance segment.

Gilbert Flepp, Energy and Technical Lines Manager, Continental and Central and Eastern Europe, has been appointed to the newly created role of Cyber Risks Line Manager, Continental and Central and Eastern Europe. In this role, he will have responsibility for further developing ACE’s Dataguard and cyber liability proposition and managing its performance across the region.

Gilbert will continue to report to Serge Osouf, Executive Vice President, Continental Europe and Senior Advisor, Emerging Markets and to Derek Talbott, Executive Vice President, Global Property, ACE Overseas General. He will retain management responsibility for ACE’s energy proposition across the region, reporting to Roger Giddings, Executive Vice President, Global Energy, ACE Overseas General and to Serge Osouf. He will also continue to play an advisory role for technical lines generally, focusing on large and complex accounts.

Gilbert has 28 years of insurance industry experience. He has spent 23 years at ACE and a predecessor company in underwriting and management roles focusing on technical lines insurance including power generation, information technology and construction. Prior to this, Gilbert spent five years in the broking sector and was previously a construction project engineer.

At the same time, Hervé Cosson, Construction Line Manager Continental and Central and Eastern Europe, has been promoted to the role of Regional Technical Lines Manager, Continental and Central and Eastern Europe. He will retain regional management responsibility for construction and will also head the regional power generation business, including engineering, reporting to Derek Talbott and to Serge Osouf.

Hervé has nine years of underwriting and management experience at ACE. Previously, he held engineering and project management positions for several years at international manufacturing companies belonging to the Cargill Group and to the Huntsman Corporation.

Both appointments take place with immediate effect.

Joseph Clabby, Regional President, Continental Europe at ACE, said: “ACE’s research suggests that 52% of European businesses feel underprepared to deal with IT and cyber risks. Creating a new leadership position dedicated to this line of business underlines our commitment to partnering with clients and brokers on this important emerging risk area. Gilbert Flepp has been integral to our work to build our proposition so far and there is nobody better qualified to lead it through the next phase of growth.”

Derek Talbott, Executive Vice President, Global Property, ACE Overseas General added: “Gilbert Flepp and Hervé Cosson are both technical lines insurance professionals of the highest ability. Their exceptional underwriting backgrounds, technical industry knowledge and strong market relationships highlight the bench strength we have in Continental Europe and will be extremely valuable as we continue to build our technical lines proposition in the region.”
